Average treatment time with SureSmile is 30% or more faster than conventional braces.*

Through the use of SureSmile technology, Drs. Carroll and Sutton can offer you a "braces experience" that provides:

  • Shorter treatment times
  • Fewer office visits
  • Less overall discomfort
  • High-quality results

Our technology-driven orthodontic process offers several important benefits that make the whole "braces experience" much easier for patients than conventional orthodontics!

What is SureSmile?

Utilizing digital photographs, X-rays and TRIOS® intraoral scans Drs. Carroll and Sutton are able to complete virtual orthodontic treatment to levels of precision not previously possible. Using the SureSmile software they then virtually construct superelastic heat-activated archwires that are then made by robots. The precision of the adjustments bent into these robotically made wires is not possible with the human hand. These wires are then used to move teeth into the desired positions.

Shorter Treatment Times

You've probably heard from friends or family that wearing braces is a long-term commitment, taking more than two years on average. With SureSmile orthodontic treatment, getting braces isn't what it used to be. You'll get outstanding results in less time with SureSmile technology.

Fewer Office Visits

With SureSmile, patients spend less time in treatment and make fewer visits to the orthodontist.  The custom SureSmile archwires provides smoother movement for a more comfortable experience than traditional braces. And by quickly returning to a normal oral hygiene routine, maintaining healthy teeth and gums is easier.

Less Overall Discomfort

Anyone who has worn braces will probably tell you that wire adjustments and changes were the least favorite part of the process due to discomfort. Fortunately, the SureSmile system is engineered to maximize therapeutic efficiency of each wire, significantly reducing the number of adjustments needed. These adjustments are made with lighter force super-elastic wire. This means fewer episodes of discomfort over the course of your treatment.

High-Quality Results

Instead of the orthodontist bending an archwire by hand at each appointment, a SureSmile wire is designed by the orthodontist and then custom-shaped by a robot. When the wire is inserted, each tooth moves directly to the prescribed position. It's this precise movement that enables such great results with a shorter treatment time.

Hybrid Orthodontic Treatment

Many times the ideal orthodontic treatment for patients is to treat the upper teeth with aligners and the lower teeth with braces. Many orthodontists offer this type of hybrid treatment. In most offices, the orthodontist treats the upper teeth with Invisalign® and the lower teeth with braces. Using the Invisalign software, they position the upper and lower teeth where they want them. An Align technician then creates (stages) the upper tooth movements and the orthodontist tries to bend wires to move the patient’s lower teeth into the exact positions that the planned for in the software. This is a nearly impossible feat.

Using the SureSmle software, Drs. Carroll and Sutton complete the virtual treatment plan and then using the same software, they stage the upper SureClear aligners and design the lower SureSmile archwires. This enables them to complete very predictable and efficient hybrid orthodontic treatment. This level of integration during hybrid treatment is not possible with any other technique.
