PAOO

What is PAOO?
(Periodontally Accelerated Osteogenic Orthodontics)

PAOO is a clinical procedure performed by a periodontist to selectively remove cortical alveolar bone (dense bony plate around certain teeth) and then to create a bone graft in this area. This procedure causes what is known as RAP (Regional Acceleratory Phenomenon) during which time orthodontic forces are applied to the teeth, allowing for safer and more rapid tooth movements.

When the PAOO and orthodontic forces are planned properly, it can reduce treatment times up to 50% while reducing the risk of root resorption and increasing bone thickness. Dr. Carroll and Dr. Sutton have a significant amount of experience working with several local periodontists utilizing this technique, often in combination with our SureSmile® technology.
