Diode Laser Treatment
Expose Impacted Teeth
Diode laser treatment is a comfortable, safe and effective procedure to remove excess gum tissue for cosmetic improvements or to expose impacted teeth. It provides several benefits for patients receiving orthodontic care. By using a specialized diode laser, Dr. Carroll and Dr. Sutton are able to safely remove excess gum tissue in order to uncover impacted teeth and to expose more of a tooth’s surface for better aesthetics and function.
Remove Excess Tissue for Cosmetic Improvement
Uncovering a tooth to enable placement of an orthodontic bracket can reduce treatment time by months versus waiting for the tooth to fully erupt. Sculpting the gums around the teeth when excess, uneven, poorly shaped or asymmetric gum tissue is visible can dramatically improve the overall appearance of your smile.
How does diode laser treatment work?
When activated by the doctor, the diode emits a ray of concentrated energy through a thin fiber optic line. After numbing the area of gum tissue with a topical anesthetic gel, Dr. Carroll or Dr. Sutton contact the gum tissue with the fiber optic line, removing or recontouring the excess tissue.
Benefits of using a diode laser during orthodontic treatment:
- Faster and more efficient treatment
- Safe
- Very comfortable with essentially no recovery period
- Less invasive – No bleeding
- No shots are necessary!
