What are clear aligners?
Clear aligners, such as Invisalign® and SureSmile®, are a series of nearly invisible, removable, and comfortable plastic trays that straighten your teeth by applying specific forces to them, much like braces. Not only are the aligners nearly invisible, they are removable, so you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Brushing and flossing are also much easier as well. While these aligners are great for certain types of tooth movements, they are not well suited for others. Over the past two decades, Dr. Carroll and Dr. Sutton have completed over a thousand cases using clear aligners.
What are aligner attachments?
Attachments are temporary, tooth-colored resin composite bonding that we sometimes need to place on certain teeth in order for your clear aligners to achieve the desired tooth movements. Unlike braces, clear aligners can only push on teeth, since they are themselves not bonded to your teeth. These small attachments are designed to provide surfaces for your clear aligners to push on so that the proper forces can be applied to these teeth. Your attachments will later be polished off after your treatment is complete or once they are no longer needed.
We will be happy to discuss your clear aligner treatment with you. After a quick digital scan of your teeth with our Trios® scanner, you can begin your clear aligner treatment in just a few weeks.
